Take a stroll through your local MoPar dealer and it becomes blatantly obvious that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles peddles many of the world's coolest performance offerings. For starters, there's a whole family of SRTs that includes the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently inducted Dodge Durango. If you want to get less traditional, there's Fiat's zippy 500 Abarth, Alfa Romeo's sinuous 4C or Maserati's classy GranTurismo. And that's not even counting the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk or insane Challenger Demons. That's literally a couple of mouthfuls of serious enthusiast cars. But, as incredible as all that metal is, there's still one niche the company hasn't filled: a convertible muscle car. Combining 392 cubic inches of rowdy Hemi power with a custom Drop Top Customs roof, this White Knuckle coupe is a unique performance icon that's logged only 4,986 miles. CLASSIC GOOD LOOKS
Beginning life at Chrysler's excellent Brampton manufacturing facility, this elegant Challenger has roamed less than 5,000 miles of smooth blacktop. Pull the car under the lights and you'll find immaculate White Knuckle Clear Coat that's been pampered and paraded its entire existence. Below that lust worthy canvas, original sheetmetal fits precisely, displaying excellent build quality. A close look down that slab-sided fuselage reveals not so much as a dent or ding anywhere: spotless aesthetics that are reinforced by a clean CarFax report. And it all adds up to one slick modern MoPar that's far nicer than any piecemeal third party build!
Trimmings kick off with a blacked out grille that hangs energetic “CHALLENGER SRT” badging between high intensity headlights, projector fog lamps and an aggressive chin spoiler. Behind that spoiler, a tall profile floats tweaked fender emblems between a polished fuel filler, Satin Black rockers and a tight convertible top that was retrofitted by Drop Top Customs of High Springs, Florida. That top folds between a scooped hood, factory-tint glass and an “SRT” branded deck spoiler that's fitted with a requisite Center High Mount Stop Lamp. And beneath that spoiler, a glossy, “DODGE” branded valance hangs LED split taillights above a black-trimmed bumper and polished exhaust tips.

As we all know, Chrysler's Hemi has never been defined by white noise and empty promises. Straight from the factory the company's stalwart 5.7 liter makes an impressive 375 horsepower, and with the help of SRT, its performance goes from wild to insane! Measuring roughly 392 cubic inches, this Challenger's upsized mill utilizes a revised block, aluminum heads and sequential multi-port fuel injection to twist stout 10.9 to 1 compression into 485 horsepower and 475 lb./ft. of torque. Visually, the car's engine compartment comes together just as well as its muscular exterior. Install is exceptionally clean, with a body-matched strut brace caging a factory SRT shroud. And, best of all, this is a Hemi that'll fire up in any weather, drive thousands of miles before anyone needs to turn its bolts, and probably lay waste to any old school muscle car that's brave enough to make a charge.
DROP THE TOP AND HIT THE BACKROADS
Straight from Auburn Hills, Chrysler's LX platform was a solid foundation that could easily spawn multiple rear and all-wheel drive applications. And when this Challenger's engineering team bolted up a Mercedes S-Class front suspension, threw in a Mercedes E-Class rear suspension and re-christened it “LC”, they created the perfect blend of American attitude and European road manners. The brutal Hemi commands eight forward gears through a new generation TorqueFlite automatic, which pairs Chrysler's proven AutoStick technology with wheel-mounted paddle shifters. That transmission twists a fresh limited-slip differential, which is equipped with buff 3.70 gears. There's an SRT-tuned Bilstein chassis, supplemented with additional bracing when the car's top was chopped, that's equipped with standard stability and traction control. Variable-ratio, speed-assisted power steering ensures you'll want to do more than make traditional NASCAR lefts. Braking comes courtesy of Brembo 4-piston calipers that, with the help of standard anti-lock software, clamp 14-inch, slotted rotors. And at the corners, subtle Brass Monkeys spin 275/40ZR20 Pirelli P Zero Neros.

Look inside this Dodge and you'll find a stylish, 2-tone cockpit that's equal part form and equal part function. At the center of the cabin, “SRT” branded seats feature heat, ventilation and full power adjustment. In front of those thrones, a driver-oriented dash seals highly detailed telemetry, dual-zone climate control and Performance Pages technology behind Hectic Mesh trim and a small “SRT” badge. At the center of that dash, Uconnect infotainment mixes convenient Bluetooth connectivity and reliable satellite radio with crisp Alpine audio. Below that system, a French stitched console centers an attractive shifter between “SRT” branded floor mats and metal-trimmed foot pedals. At the sides of that carpet, 2-tone door panels front smooth power mirrors, requisite power windows and standard power door locks. In front of the driver, a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel spins factory cruise control around a power tilt and telescoping column.
