Documented Rotisserie Restored Mustang Boss 302 V8 4 Speed Shaker
Back in 2002, Ford ran a commercial with then-president Bill Ford Jr. asking the age-old question: if you could have one car for the rest of your life, what would it be? Naturally, Bill chose a Mustang with a “throaty V8”. Given his name and position, that was probably a pretty easy wish to grant, but it certainly isn't so easy for the rest of us. That said; if you've been searching high and low for a top-notch Mustang with big power and plenty of curb appeal, this pedigreed Boss may be the perfect answer. Rotisserie restored and fully documented, the car features a legendary, 302 cubic inch V8, a tough Toploader transmission and a striking color combination. Forget just sitting at the show – this is prestige, performance and excitement wrapped in a timeless vintage shell!
AUTHENTIC WIMBLEDON BOSS
Sold through Horn and Williams Motor Company of Dallas, Texas, this authentic Boss 302 is the beneficiary of a detailed rotisserie restoration that was completed in early 2019. That rebuild began with a rust-free Texas body, which supplemented original doors, original quarters and an original trunk with vintage fenders and a vintage Shaker Hood that were cribbed from a solid parts car. New trim joined new glass, a new chin spoiler and a correct deck spoiler to spice classic MoTown style with SCCA-inspired details. Naturally, that finely finned profile was bathed in correct Wimbledon White 2-stage and decked in aggressive Boss 302 war paint. And today, this Ford rolls as living testament to the rich motorsports history that strong-armed competitors from Chevrolet, MoPar and Ferrari alike!
302 CUBIC INCHES OF GLORY
The legendary Windsor 302 needs no introduction. Advertised with 290 horsepower, which just happens to be the same number claimed by Chevy's SCCA Camaro, builders and racers have LONG known that this thoroughbred mill is capable of cranking out some serious oomph. And, professionally rebuilt by Dayton, Ohio's Parson's Hi-Performance Engine Service, this Boss's service replacement block has been returned exactly to factory specifications. At the top of the spry block, a big Holley 4-barrel feeds a correct aluminum intake. In front of that Holley, a traditional points distributor sequences fire between a fresh Autolite coil, a vivid Autolite voltage regulator and proven Autolite Radio Resistance cables. Beneath that distributor, JE pistons join a Holman Moody solid lifter cam to bump spent gases through correct, cast exhaust manifolds. And in front of those tubes, a glossy radiator sends water around a shrouded fan via pliable Autolite hoses and tight screw clamps. As you can probably tell, the raucous engine has been coated in thick blue paint and crowned with sweet aluminum valve covers. That clean appearance contrasts well against Satin Black fenders and a full array of tags and decals. And everything, from the car's retro Sta-Ful battery to its correct Autolite rev limiter, looks 100% authentic and complete.
MUSCLED ATHLETICS
Aesthetically, the bottom of this old school pony has been restored to the same high standards as its striking exterior and clean engine compartment. Behind the motor, a correct Toploader 4-speed spins a familiar Ford axle that's finished with a correct Traction Lok differential and correct 3.91 gears. That awesome drivetrain is held off the ground by a fully rebuilt Competition Suspension. At the corners of that suspension, two power-assisted discs lead two power-assisted drums. Aluminized pipes funnel roasted dinosaurs through an H-shaped crossover and throaty turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on chromed Magnum 500s, which twist trusty 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around galloping horse center caps.
CORRECT HERE TOO
Inside the car, a correct Medium Blue interior features taut Rhino/Corinthian seats that blend seamlessly with their clean white shell. Everything from the tight headliner to the color-keyed carpet appears restoration-fresh. The FoMoCo dash is loaded with rebuilt gauges, features a retrofitted AM/FM stereo, and looks good in contrasting black trim. At the floor, a traditional Hurst T-handle toggles gears. And in front of the driver, a standard steering wheel laps a red Mustang emblem.
Whether you're a diehard Ford fan or a new enthusiast who's looking for a solid investment, this Mustang is an excellent fit. Fully documented, and seamlessly melding legendary power with timeless styling, it turns plenty of heads without sacrificing pedigree or drivability. If that sounds like your brand of fun, call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte!
