Restored Trans Am Ram Air III 400 V8 Automatic Pwr Steering and Brakes
Camaros, Mustangs and MoPars just don't floats some folks' boats. See, they like to stand out from the sea of 'me too' muscle cars, and they like to support automotive guards that, despite market headwinds, never deviated from their original heading. That's the chief mantra of many diehard Pontiac fans, and that's why classics like this choice Firebird Trans Am are so appealing. Combining a hot Ram Air III 400 with a smooth 3-speed, razor-sharp aesthetics and miles of turnkey bliss, this legendary Poncho is sure to put the wind in your sails! Looking for some cool old muscle that's ready to cruise the coast OR reflect the sun? Breeze on over to https://www.RKMotors.com and board your next classic!
TEAM BLUE AND WHITE
A meticulously restored F-Body that's one of only 1,339 Ram Air III/3-speed Trans Ams produced for the 1970 model year, this first class Firebird wears clean Polar White 2-stage that's set off by aggressive blue war paint. The car's bodywork is solid throughout, with smooth, flat panels that are complemented by better-than-factory alignment. Those lines kick off with a glossy Endura bumper, which hangs a familiar 2-piece grille between clear headlights and chrome trimmed parking lamps. At the top of those grilles, a blue Screamin' Chicken leads a low-profile shaker, which rocks in front of Soft Ray glass that's trimmed in bright stainless. At the sides of that glass, body-matched sport mirrors cap traditional louvers, chrome door handles and aggressive flares. Opposite those mirrors, a sculpted spoiler hangs a bold “TRANS AM” callout above a polished bumper, retro “PONTIAC” lettering and the last set of 'small' taillights to ever adorn a Trans Am valence. And it all adds up to muscled MoTown royalty that's virtually guaranteed to never go out of style!
RAM AIR III
Under the hood, 400 cubic inches of proven Pontiac power hides a familiar 9790071 casting number behind a Ram Air III-spec “YZ” assembly stamp and a matching 117486 partial VIN. At the top of that Turquoise mill, a requisite Rochester 4-barrel bridges the gap between factory Ram Air induction, fresh stainless fluid lines and a cast iron intake. That intake rides between cast iron heads, which hang polished valve covers over restored exhaust manifolds. A familiar points distributor jolts spark through fresh AC Delco Premium Wires. Cooling is provided by a shrouded radiator, which sends water through pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps. And aesthetically, the car's impressive engine bay has been very well restored.
CLEAN & CORRECT
At the bottom of this slick, second-generation Firebird, solid floorpans shade decades of dry storage and easy living. Behind the hot 400, a tough Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed spins power to a tough 12-bolt axle that, according to its “E” assembly stamp, spins a posi-traction differential around 3.50 gears. Below that stellar drivetrain, a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes correct power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, complements with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes. At the center of the car, a throaty, true-dual exhaust system hangs rowdy Flowmaster mufflers in front of polished stainless tips. And everything rolls on a quartet of attractive Rally IIs, which twist 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.
PLEASANT SPORTINESS
When it comes to interior décor, Pontiac's '70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. Correct vinyl buckets are clean and crisp, easily defying the car's age. In front of those seats, a warp-free dash splits rebuilt factory telemetry and modern Sony audio with an attractive, engine-turned instrument panel. Beneath that ledge, a molded console frames a small shifter. And the driver spins a black Formula Steering Wheel.
When the sun is warm and the road is beckoning, this Trans Am is exactly the kind of classic that can answer the call! Pontiac has one of the richest histories of any automaker, and there's a reason second-generation Firebirds are a rarity in our showroom. They're handsome, fun, ideal hobby cars that are exclusive by nature. Time to add a little Tin Indian to your garage!
