Rotisserie Restored R-Code Mach 1 428 SCJ V8 4-speed Drag Pack PS PB
2019 has been a great time to be a Mustang fan at RK Motors Charlotte! Over the past year, we've seen all types of cool 'stangs drive through our doors. The most recent addition, this sweet 1969 Mach 1, is a perfect example of why the marque continues to enjoy record popularity. An authentic R-code coupe that's benefitted from a concours restoration, this Ford is set to provide years of memories and miles of enjoyment. And if hitting the highway in a premium version of one of Detroit's finest muscle cars sounds like your idea of good vibes and great times, it's a killer choice for your next classic!
POE WOULD BE PROUD
Recently benefitting from a concours, rotisserie restoration, this authentic R-code Mach 1 is an object of admiration and reverie. The car's correct Raven Black 2-stage is as striking as ever. That pigment coats precise fit and finish that'll put most factory-original cars to shame. And it all adds up to one choice Dearborn superstar that's stylish, sorted and ready to roll!
A masterful restoration is all about the details both on the surface and below the surface. At the front of this razor-sharp coupe, a thin chrome bumper joins ridged fenders at the edges of clear lights, a Mustang-branded grille and an aggressive Mach 1 chin spoiler. Between those fenders, a correct satin hood centers a correct Cobra Jet scoop in front stainless-trimmed glass and requisite window louvers. Below that chip-free glass, Mach 1 Sport Mirrors reflect traditional door handles and tough quarter scoops above striking Mach 1 stripes and tasteful rocker trim. And at the back of the car, a second bumper mimics a pedestal-mount wing amid clean taillights, an ornate fuel filler and a contoured, “MUSTANG mach 1” branded valance.
CORRECT COBRA JET CATALYST
Back in 1969, if you wanted a Mustang and you wanted to slay stoplights, you wanted Ford's killer Cobra Jet V8. Lift this fastback's scooped hood and you'll find 428 cubic inches of correct FE big block that's been completely rebuilt from its spry Holley carburetor all the way down to its Ford Blue oil pan. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crankshaft, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a “COBRA JET” branded shaker over a cast iron intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang finned valve covers over cast iron exhaust manifolds. A familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through loomed Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires, lights the fires. Cooling comes courtesy of a stock radiator, which circulates water through pliable Autolite hoses and old school screw clamps. And standard V-belts spin rare emissions hardware opposite factory power steering. Aesthetically, the clean engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And in addition to vivid grease marks, the engine's roster of accurate accessories includes a bright Autolite regulator, a faux Autolite battery, a polished Autolite breather and a hot Autolite coil.
REFLECTIONS FROM THE BOTTOM
Take a look at our professional, high-resolution photos and you'll see that the bottom of this fully sorted pony is a literal expose in freshly restored factory accuracy. Behind the motor, a date-correct Toploader 4-speed twists torque to a durable Ford 9-inch. Holding that proven drivetrain off the ground is a restored and tagged suspension that's finished with familiar Koni shocks. At the ends of that suspension, optional power steering combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to mix easy turns with solid stops. At the center of the car's glossy, Oxide Red floors, a fresh true-dual exhaust system sends spent gasses through an H-shaped crossover, rowdy resonators and polished stainless tips. And at the edges of those floors, chromed Magnum 500s spin F70-15 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Treads around galloping horse center caps.
BLACK TO THE CORE
Open this awesome Mustang's doors and you'll find an ornate Mach 1 cockpit that mixes the best elements of Ford Black vinyl with a series of contrasting accents. At the center of the car, Hi-Back bucket seats are dashed with Indian Fire Red stripes. In front of those seats, a dual-cowl dash hangs bright wood applique around a full assortment of rebuilt gauges and an original Philco radio. Below that dash, a stylish, wood-trimmed console toggles a long Hurst shifter on clean carpet and brilliant floor mats. And naturally, the driver spins a trick Rim Blow Steering Wheel.
If you're looking for a highly desirable classic that'll provide years of weekend fun, and rack up more than its fair share of fans in the process, this Mustang is your kind of car! Call, click or visit your friends at https://www.RKMotors.com to schedule a visit.
