Custom Built RCR Superlite Coupe LS3 V8 6-speed Custom Leather A/C Front Lift
What's better than getting your hands on a wicked classic that can handily dispatch pretty much anything on the road? Easy… Getting your hands on a wicked and equally exclusive custom that's unlike anything you'll ever see at your monthly Cars & Coffee meet! A mind-blowing land rocket for gearheads who desire ultimate performance, and want to be seen in one of the coolest cars money can buy, the Superlite Coupe is a ground-up, championship-winning custom that employs state of the art technology. And this brilliant SL-C is a professionally sorted show stopper that takes speed and exclusivity from a 10 to a 12. Looking for a ride that's off the charts in virtually every way? Welcome to the world of Superlite!
NO COMPROMISES
Engineered to be a case study in build quality and driving dynamics, the Superlite Coupe was designed to be up-to-date, well-built and easy to live with. No depending on decades-old technology. No correcting sloppy parts. And no living with poor performance, bad visibility or other 'charming quirks'. Simply put: these cars are crafted to be modern, enduring customs that can be enjoyed right out of the box. The SL-C's smooth fiberglass body, sealed in Class A gelcoat, can be buffed, wrapped or painted straight from the factory. In the case of this sweet, road-focused SL-C, slick 2-stage was applied over yellow gelcoat by our friends at Charlotte Speed Shop. That pigment begins with Ferrari Giallo Modena yellow, transitions to GM Mond Gray Metallic, and stretches past a laminated windshield to a Ferrari Nero Black roof. At the sides of the car's plexi greenhouse, optional Hippo-Ear mirrors reflect a locking fuel filler, custom body vents and polished, flush-fit door handles. Those vents follow custom Hella projector beam headlights, which border a fully finished frunk that, since the car was not designed with a trunk in mind, involved hours of customization. And everything ends at an optional Street Tail rear-clip.
SL[S3]-C
Gaze upon this coupe's aluminum-trimmed engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters of modern GM small block that provides a perfect blend of athleticism and drivability. Adopted from a 2010 Corvette, that mid-mount LS3 twists an easy 460 horsepower into a solid 424 lb./ft. of tire-turning torque. At the top of the block, a custom air tube funnels wind into a proven GM throttle body, which feeds a lightweight GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which ride under trick, body-matched coil covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A bumpy hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through factory LS7 headers. There's a lightweight Fluidyne radiator that's slid between custom coolant tanks, a removable Fluidyne oil cooler and three SPAL fans. And a racing-style fuel system makes excellent use of a fully baffled fuel tank and a Swirl Pot tank.
S[UPER]L-C[AR ENGINEERING]
Rule number one of custom car building: an excellent drivetrain isn't worth the metal it's cast from unless it's paired with a competent chassis. Behind this Superlite's hot small block, a tough Kennedy Engineered clutch kicks a modified Getrag 6-speed that was cribbed from a Porsche 993 Carrera. That drivetrain pushes a lightweight tubular hybrid chassis that's been carefully constructed with TIG welds. That chassis, which propelled Superlite to NASA Unlimited domination, combines an aluminum, plate monocoque front-half with an aluminum, space frame rear-clip. Those bones roll on a sturdy billet suspension, which mixes custom, CNC-machined uprights with custom, highly polished control arms and double-adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of rack-and-pinion steering. Stops, greatly aided by the car's 46/54 weight distribution, are provided by Brembo 4-piston calipers, which squeeze a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Spent gases exit through 3-inch, DEI Titanium-wrapped pipes that feed hushed Flowmaster dBX mufflers. Because of this coupe's whittled profile, 10-spoke alloy wheels look positively massive inside 275/35ZR18 and 325/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. And, because of its diminutive ride height, RamLift adjustable hydraulics are on board to hoist the 2,600-pound car over any unusually high obstacle.
CUSTOM STITCHING
Between the doors you'll find a tasteful custom interior that was installed by the experts at Charlotte, North Carolina's The Custom Stitching Co. Double-sewn race buckets stretch tight leather hides under 4-point Sparco harnesses. Opposite those seats, a leather-wrapped dash frames crisp Dakota Digital telemetry beside modern heat and air conditioning. Custom side panels parallel a custom console, which is centered on a short, leather-booted shifter. The driver spins a sporty Momo steering wheel around Tilton foot pedals, a custom dead pedal and a power-operated tilt and telescoping column. An Infinitybox advanced computerized electrical system controls Bluetooth audio and a practical rearview camera. Cut-pile carpet rides quality Dynamat heat and sound insulation. And there's a full halo roll cage that greatly increases safety.
Mixing easy, all-American power with state of the art engineering and race-winning athleticism, this SL-C is both sensible and unique. And when it comes to the driving experience, it's about as much fun as you can have on four wheels! Looking to embarrass a few European supercar owners? It's time you become a proud member of Team Superlite!
