Sinister Charger R/T Resto Mod 440 V8 Automatic A/C Coilover Suspension
Thoughts of the legendary Charger immediately bring to mind a near perfect blend of basic transportation and big performance. See, back in the late '60s when muscle cars started packing on premiums to increase margins, Dodge continued to honor the tenets of the cheap speed movement. In fact, the second-generation Charger was carefully designed to stay firmly grounded in the realm of affordability. And today, 50 years into the future, that adherence to principle fosters a remarkable line-up of classics that, because of their purity, seem to perpetually gain value. Take this brilliantly sinister coupe for example. Combining 440 cubic inches of numbers-matching big block with a numbers-matching 3-speed, a fresh rotisserie restoration, and a roster of both exceptional and logical upgrades, it's an excellent example of why vintage Detroit metal will always be incredibly appealing. Shopping for an unadulterated embodiment of the quintessential muscle car? Take a long look at this impressive MoPar!
IS THERE ANY OTHER COLOR?
An authentic Charger R/T that's worn sinister Black pigment since it left the factory, this striking resto-mod is the beneficiary of a meticulous rotisserie restoration that left no bolt unturned. Naturally, that multi-year reboot included modern two-stage and a traditional R/T deck stripe. And the car's stunning shell reflects timeless beauty through Gtechniq 9-year ceramic protection. At the front of that shine, a stainless-trimmed grille hides modern halo headlights behind a polished bumper, a sporty “Charger R/T” script and LED parking lamps. Behind that grille, a scalloped hood centers small turn indicators in front of crisp glass that's cleared by matte wipers and traced in polished frames. At the sides of that glass, a sleek profile centers classy mirrors and factory door handles between an ornate fuel filler, LED markers and sporty “Charger” emblems. And out back, a second polished bumper guards LED tail lamps and a second “Charger R/T” script.
ORIGINAL PLUS!
When this world class Dodge rumbled into the RKM Performance Center it caused such a commotion that our entire staff came out of their offices just to check things out. When they tilted the car's long hood and found 440 cubic inches of fuel injected big block, they certainly weren't disappointed! At the top of that numbers-matching mill, a handsome Mopar Performance air cleaner swirls wind into a requisite EFI throttle body, which rides a lightweight Edelbrock intake. That intake, lined with bright fuel rails, feeds stock 440 heads, which tilt attractive Mopar Performance valve covers under polished Mopar Performance breathers. At the front of those domes, a billet distributor shoots fire through loomed PerTronix Flame-Thrower plug wires. Below those wires, long headers pump spent gases through custom exhaust pipes. Color-keyed Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine components spin an aluminum water pump behind a polished alternator and a coated AC compressor. A muted aluminum radiator hangs quick spinning Maradyne pullers behind a billet cap. Aesthetically, the brilliant block provides an excellent complement to the car's crisp, body-matched engine bay. And details like a Wilwood master cylinder, a deep Milodon oil pan and an old school Chrysler washer tank add a little flash and function.
ORIGINAL PLUS TOO!
Bottom-side, a numbers-matching A727 3-speed twists torque through a quality GEAR VENDORS overdrive. That tastefully updated take on originality spins a shortened driveshaft that's hooked to a requisite Chrysler 8.75-inch axle, which employs a Sure Grip differential and big, 3.91 gears. That pumpkin pushes a retrofitted 4-link rear-clip that's built around welded subframe connectors and RideTech coil-over-shocks. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering leads a retrofitted independent front-half that's finished with tubular A-arms and two more RideTech coil-overs. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power assisted Wilwood calipers, which push 20 pistons against a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers push spent gases into wrapped and Mandrel-bent pipes, which align throaty Flowmaster mufflers with small resonators. Plenty of 'Go Juice' is provided by a fresh stainless fuel tank. And at the corners, color-keyed Forgeline CH3Ps turn custom offsets inside 245/35ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports and 295/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
IS THERE ANY OTHER STYLE?
When you pop this Charger's doors, you'll find a thoughtfully updated cockpit that honors the car's legacy of being unabashedly old school American muscle. Top dead center, a body-matched dash hangs predictable Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to controls for Vintage Air conditioning and Bluetooth-capable Pioneer audio. Thick factory seats fly factory headrests between factory side panels. A classy shifter sails a factory console on clean, fade-free carpet. The driver spins a Billet Specialties Select wheel around metal foot pedals and a modern, tilting column. And a restored trunk provides easy access to a duo of JL Audio subwoofers.
With a beastly drivetrain, an excellent restoration and stunning aesthetics, this super cool MoPar combines big swagger with big appeal. It's fast. It's fun. And the addition of conveniences like modern fuel injection and modern overdrive simply sweeten the deal. Longing for a lights-out resto-mod that's built to please? Take a long look at this impressive 1968 Charger!
