Packard One-Twenty Convertible Resto Mod Chevy 350 V8 700R4 PS PB A/C Leather
When you think the words “different” and “cool”, what comes to mind? “Cool” is easy for many folks because there aren't many things cooler than traditional Americana. “Different”? Well, that's a little more difficult. As cool as tri-fives and Fairlanes are, they're pretty common and fairly mainstream. That said, you could do an interesting variation of those cars, like the Nomad or the Skyliner. Or you could buy an oddball offering like the perennial Checker. Or you could pick up a classy and elegant cruiser like this incredible Packard One-Twenty! What's that you say? You're worried about parts and repairs? Well, in that case, it's nice to know that, during a detailed, ground-up restoration, this dreamy drop-top was upgraded with a proven Chevy small block and a reliable GM transmission. That settles it: if you're looking for a unique, world-class weekender, your classic has officially arrived!
'ONE OF SEVEN ATTRACTIVE BODY STYLES'
A solid Detroit marvel that has absolutely no problem turning heads, this pristine Packard is the product of a detailed, body-off restoration that spared absolutely no expense. Brilliant red two-stage reflects classy stainless trim that's both sporty and elegant. And that bright flash and quality pigment highlights distinctive, retro character that reminds us just how cool vintage metal can be!
Quite possibly the ultimate boulevard cruiser, this Packard is an exercise in excellent detail! At the front of the car, a polished bumper threads body-matched bolts through sculpted guards, which protect polished driving lamps and a tailored grille. At the sides of that grille, bullet-style parking lamps complement bullet-style headlights, which bend polished fins under requisite Super Eight Goddess hood decor. A stainless-trimmed windshield leads rich cloth, which stretches a glass backlite and snazzy red piping between a GE spotlight, a fun rumble seat and capped wipers. Stylish spare tires lead subtle spears and tasteful pinstripes, which cage polished louvers, polished mirrors and polished door handles. Matted running boards look perfectly natural in front of a polished fuel filler and polished quarter steps. And at the back of the car, a second red-tinged bumper frames simple taillights and an ornate luggage rack.
'CHEVROLET'S RED-HOT HILL FLATTENER!'
When it comes to the perfect blend of power, reliability and fixability, nothing beats a stalwart Chevy small block. With that in mind, it seems perfectly logical that this Packard sports proven bowtie power. Fold the car's split hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of body-matched V8 that's been fully rebuilt and fully detailed! At the top of that mill, polished air cleaners dump breeze through three Rochester 2-barrels and a polished Edelbrock intake. That spry tri-power induction feeds aluminum Dart heads, which pair cool, Packard-inspired rocker covers with trick MQQN Equipment breathers. A hot Mallory Unilite distributor sequences fire between a Mallory coil and loomed Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires. Bright pulleys spin a polished water pump, a polished AC compressor and a polished alternator between coated block hugger headers. A big SPAL puller fan cools a beefy aluminum radiator. And cool details include polished lines, polished reservoirs and polished dipsticks.
THOUGHTFULLY UPGRADED
Naturally, that modern powerplant precedes a modernized, road-ready chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy X-frame that traces solid, undercoated floors. At the center of those bones, a smooth 700R4 4-speed makes excellent use of a highway-friendly axle. That upgraded pumpkin drives a fully rebuilt suspension, which mixes small lowering blocks and a big sway bar with a Mustang II front-half that's built around adjustable coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Solid stops are achieved through power-assisted discs and power-assisted drums. Aluminized exhaust pipes spent gases through throaty turbo mufflers and clean stainless tips. And all that proven hardware rolls on classy chrome wires, which spin 6.50R16 Coker Classic whitewalls in front of 7.00R16 Coker Classic whitewalls.
RIDE IN STYLE
The car's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of boomtown, America, complete with plush leather on almost every surface. The bright red cockpit follows a sculpted dash, which centers intricate telemetry above components for modern air conditioning and crisp, modern audio. Rich carpet floats piped mats between factory handles, upgraded side panels, a Lokar shifter and upgraded foot pedals. The driver spins a banjo-style steering wheel around a polished column. And the passengers stow essentials in a fully upholstered trunk.
If you're looking for some classic Americana that's much more exclusive than mass-market Chevys and run-of-the-mill Fords, this elegant Packard is a fantastic choice. Distinctive, reliable and lovingly restored, it's a lot of fun on the street OR at the show. Call your friends at http://www.RKMotors.com and schedule a visit!
