Here's your next trophy winner!
SLICK AS GLASS
The product of a detailed, professional build that possessed premium pizzazz, this Ford's slick Speedstar body is the kind of profile that would turn heads in primer. So, what better way to ensure sore neck muscles than decking that lightweight fiberglass in vivid paint and crazy cool mods? Pearl Orange rockers founds green and yellow texture under a Pearl Purple roofline that's toothed with blue borders. That blue meets green and yellow under a billet grille and polished tri-bar headlights. A tinted greenhouse caps shaved, electronically activated carriage doors in front of frenched, LED turn indicators. And at the back of the car, a shaved, electronically activated trunk shades a flush, LED taillight and a folding tag that's complete with a trick camera.
LT WON
If you think the exterior of this classic is impressive, you're going to LOVE what's under its hood! Smooth, sorted and ready to roll, the car's Pearl Orange LT1 is widely regarded as one of the best small blocks ever produced. At the front of that handsome mill, a polished serpentine drive spins an aluminum water pump between a chromed alternator and a polished AC compressor. Opposite that pump, a chromed air cleaner fronts a custom engine shroud that's detailed with polished and milled accents. High-octane fossils come courtesy of electronic fuel injection, which feeds lightweight aluminum heads and GM-spec internals. Purple Taylor plug wires thread coated block hugger headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that's backed by bright flex hoses and a large puller fan. And, visually, not a detail was missed in this Ford's body-matched engine bay, with niceties like chromed valve covers, chromed caps, braided hoses, trick dipsticks and polished fluid reservoirs complementing tastefully mirrored stripes.
SHOW AND GO
The show continues underneath the car where more painted and polished pieces match the seriously high standards set up top. The proven LT1 aligns a polished oil pan with a dressed and cooled 700R4 4-speed, which spins a polished driveshaft. That tube twists a painted and polished third member, which spins polished half shafts amid a polished Heidts suspension that's finished with adjustable coil-over-shocks. Opposite that clip, a fully polished front-half hangs two more adjustable coil-overs in front of modern rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by polished and power-assisted calipers that squeeze staggered and vented rotors. Polished, Mandrel-bent exhaust threads polished, glasspack-style mufflers. And at the corners, handsome Billet Specialties SLC75s spin 215/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 295/40ZR20 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.
CUSTOM AND COMFORTABLE
Inside this awesome coupe, class is the name of the game as tasteful Tan leather creates a stylish complement to the car's vivid pigment. Crack the fully finished jambs and you'll find deep bucket seats that are garnished with tidy lap belts. Front and center, quality Painless Wiring illuminates clean AutoMeter telemetry that's trimmed in billet. A sculpted console floats a familiar Lokar shifter between crisp Audiovox audio, controls for Vintage Air conditioning and slick switches for power windows. Artsy side panels cage rich carpet beneath billet foot pedals. The driver spins a polished Colorado Custom steering wheel around a polished, tilting column. And the car's fully upholstered trunk hides a polished battery box.
Hot small blocks, outrageous paint and tasteful leather interiors are hallmark tenets of street rodding mythos.
