Chevy Bel Air Resto Mod 350 Chevrolet V8 700R4 4-speed Auto PS PB A/C Fat Man
The legendary Bel Air has always been one of the coolest and most popular classics around, and the preservation and endurance provided by the restoration community really puts icing on that cake! Fully restored and fully sorted, this sweet sedan is a timeless head turner that supplements premier Chevrolet style with a trick suspension, super slick aesthetics and hot small block power. Ready for years of open road fun? Time to call your friends at RK Motors!
STRIKING FORM
The beneficiary of a comprehensive, ground-up restoration that's cool, clean and ready to roll, this awesome tri-five is a thoroughly modern take on premium Americana! That eternal style shines through a glossy combination of Black and GM Sunset Orange Metallic two-stage that's more street rod than Main Street. Detailing begins with a broad bumper that props polished guards in front of a polished grille, clear parking lamps and traditional, stainless-trimmed headlights. Above that grille, a domed hood centers a patriotic crest under a polished Jetbird, which points from polished wipers. Those blades clear a stainless-trimmed windshield, which leads a tinted and stainless-trimmed greenhouse that's reflected in a duo of stylish mirrors. Simple Speed Spears and classy “Bel Air” scripts split guarded door handles, polished rocker shields and a guarded fuel door. And at the back of the car, traditional taillights join a second guarded bumper and polished V emblems to cage a second patriotic Chevrolet crest.
EASY SPEED
There's just nothing better than an old school V8 with a hot cam. Tilt this Bel Air's hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of proven Chevrolet crate engine that thumps almost as hard as it runs! At the top of that mean mill, a polished air cleaner jambs wind into a bright Edelbrock 4-barrel. That Lokar-controlled carb, sequenced to sleeved lines, a coated pump and an electric choke, feeds a lightweight Edelbrock intake. That intake feeds tough, cast iron cylinder heads, which stack a polished Mr. Gasket breather and stylish, Chevrolet-themed valve covers on coated block hugger headers. A hot HEI distributor sparks loomed MSD Street Fire Wires. A polished pulley spins an aluminum water pump between a polished Tuff Stuff alternator, a coated AC compressor and a proven Tuff Stuff power steering pump. Speaking of water, a traditional-style radiator circulates coolant between a polished overflow, a corrugated top hose and a big electric puller fan. And overall, the Jet Black beast looks great between a Sunset Orange firewall and slick, Satin Black fenders.
MODERN PERFORMANCE
Bottom-side, the potent small block spins a dressed 700R4 4-speed, which spins a predictable dropout axle that's finished with fun, 3.56 gears. That pumpkin rolls on a factory rear-clip that's been carefully altered with relocated leaf springs. That clip pushes a Fat Man Fabrications front-half, which tilts quality QA-1 coil-overs between tubular control arms and a big sway bar. Turns come courtesy of athletic power rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by power front disc and rear drum brakes. Aluminized exhaust funnels spent gases through rowdy turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. And at the corners, polished American Racing Torq Thrust IIs carry 215/55R16 Falken Ziex radials in front of 245/50R16 Falken Ziex Radials.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CONTRAST
Given the broad aftermarket support enjoyed by Chevy, it's relatively easy to build a serious performer. But most builds fail to refine that sport into something that's livable on an everyday basis. After all, what fun is turning heads down Main Street if the ride there is almost insufferable? This sedan's striking cockpit kicks off with broad bench seats that weave awesome metallic piping between textured black cloth and tight parchment vinyl. A body-matched dash bends bowtie-branded stainless around clean Classic Instruments telemetry and controls for Vintage Air conditioning. Sculpted side panels complement plush carpet. And the driver spins a jet-inspired steering wheel around a tilting column.
Chevys are cool, classics are cool and hot rods are cool. That means this Bel Air, a hotted up Chevy that virtually defines the classic car era, is cool simply by default. And that's not even considering the swagger afforded by its built chassis, big power and fully sorted restoration!
