MacNeish Certified Camaro Z28 DZ 302 V8 4-speed Original Engine
The 1969 Camaro Z28 is a highly sought-after muscle car produced by Chevrolet. It was part of the first-generation Camaro lineup, which was introduced in 1967 as a direct competitor to the Ford Mustang. The Z28 package was designed for performance-oriented driving and racing.
This incredible piece of automotive history was purchased new at Trader Chevrolet in Greensboro, North Carolina and is as nice as they come. A comprehensive restoration was completed in 2019 by Prestige Motor Company and looks near perfect.
The Z28 we present here is equipped with a high-performance 302 cubic inch V8 engine. That engine was specifically designed for Trans-Am racing and was underrated at 290 horsepower to meet the racing regulations. In reality, it produced closer to 350 of brute high revving horsepower.
The transmission in this Camaro Z28 is a close-ratio M21 four-speed manual, providing precise shifting and enhancing the car's performance.
At the time, Chevrolet was all about performance so the Z28 featured heavy-duty suspension with upgraded springs, shocks, and sway bars. This setup allowed for improved handling and cornering capabilities.
For 1969, the Z28 has a distinctive and aggressive appearance. It features a unique front grille, a bold "Z28" badge on the front fenders, and painted racing stripes running down the center of the car.
Step inside to see that the Z28 has a sporty and functional cabin with bucket seats, a center console, and gauges to monitor the car's performance.
According to Chevrolet, the 1969 Camaro Z28 had a limited production run of only 20,302 units manufactured. This Z28 is highly valued by collectors and enthusiasts due to its combination of classic styling, high-performance capabilities, and its connection to Trans-Am racing history. It remains an iconic and desirable muscle car to this day.
